by E.M. Abel

Behind the Cover Story is a cover reveal with an exclusive guest post from the author about said cover. Maybe, it’s an explanation of how they came up with the concept. Maybe, it’s how they found their model. Maybe, it’s more than that.

Together they move to New York to pursue their passions. Dillon is a singer/songwriter looking for his big break while Sky wants nothing more than to become a top fashion designer.

Choosing the covers for my books is one of my favorite parts of the publishing process. I love art so the challenge of portraying a story and evoking feelings through images is a lot of fun for me. In the past I’ve even taken the photos for my covers. (My Breaking Free Series) This time I found some good stock photos and sent them off to my friend and cover designer, Renee Ericson from Re Creatives. I told her a little about the plot of my book and she came up with the perfect design.

Music plays a really large role in this story since Dillon is a singer/songwriter so, it made total sense to have a guitar on the cover. I also loved the representation of Sky. I like that her back is exposed and she appears vulnerable because Dillon is the only person that truly knows that side of her. The moment I saw this I knew it was the perfect cover for You’re the Only One.

You’re the Only One release April 11, 2017 – Add it on Goodreads >HERE<

Behind the Cover Story: Black Hearts (Sins Duet #1) by Karina Halle

Behind the Cover Story is a cover reveal with an exclusive guest post from the author about said cover. Maybe, it’s an explanation of how they came up with the concept. Maybe, it’s how they found their model. Maybe, it’s more than that.

For Vicente Bernal, truth is all he’s known. The son of an infamous drug lord, Vicente was born to help run the family business, which means he’s been raised on a throne of sordid pasts and dirty laundry, violence and pride. But when Vicente stumbles across someone he’s not supposed to know about – a woman from his father’s checkered past – he sets out to California to find her behind his father’s back.

What Vicente doesn’t expect to find in San Francisco is Violet McQueen, the woman’s twenty-year old daughter. Beautiful and edgy with a vulnerability he can’t resist, Violet tempts Vicente from afar and though he promised himself he’d stay away from her, curiosity and lust are powerful forces. Besides, Vicente has always gotten everything he wants – why shouldn’t he have Violet too?

Soon his wants turn into an obsession, one that sweeps Violet into his games as they fall madly, deeply in love with each other, the type of first love that can drive a person mad.

But it’s a love with tragic consequences.

Both the truth – and the lies – not only threaten to tear them apart, but threaten their very lives.

Someone has to pay for the sins of the fathers.

And they’ll be paying the price with their souls.

Vicente is Hispanic, so thus began the search for finding a suitable model. If I couldn’t find a hispanic model, then I at least wanted one who could pass for one. Our first round, searching through the files of Wander Aguilar Photography (who has provided handsome men for three upcoming books of mine already), we came across a lovely man who fit Vicente perfectly but alas the image was sold and we couldn’t use it.

But we didn’t give up. We spent the day searching and searching for the perfect Vicente.

Finally we found him. The photo wasn’t quite right but I saw the potential right away. Plus he was smoking a cigarette and even though it’s something I don’t condone, it fit Vicente’s character perfectly (who also smokes…and does a lot of bad things).

Of course he wasn’t perfect yet and through the magic of Hang Le, she fixed some things about him (instant plastic surgery!) and ta-da, we have Vicente Bernal, right down to those memorable eyes and heated gaze.

Next month we’ll have the cover for Dirty Souls, the sequel in this duet, and I bet the process will be a lot easier. We’re looking for a female to represent Violet McQueen, the other half of this dynamic duo. And pretty women are always easier to find than hot men (in my opinion anyway – I don’t want a shirtless guy, I want a handsome face to fall in love with).

And boy, have I fallen in love with Vicente Bernal.

Black Hearts releases February 19th.

Behind the Cover Story: Flow & Grip by Kennedy Ryan

Behind the Cover Story is a cover reveal with an exclusive guest post from the author about said cover. Maybe, it’s an explanation of how they came up with the concept. Maybe, it’s how they found their model. Maybe, it’s more than that.

Resisting an irresistible force wears you down and turns you out.
I know.
I’ve been doing it for years.
I may not have a musical gift of my own, but I’ve got a nose for talent and an eye for the extraordinary.
And Marlon James – Grip to his fans – is nothing short of extraordinary.
Years ago, we strung together a few magical nights, but I keep those memories in a locked drawer and I’ve thrown away the key.
All that’s left is friendship and work.
He’s on the verge of unimaginable fame, all his dreams poised to come true.
I manage his career, but I can’t seem to manage my heart.
It’s wild, reckless, disobedient.
And it remembers all the things I want to forget.

If I could undo your kisses
If I could un-feel your touch
If I could unhook this heart from yours
I would
But I’m trapped in the memory of what we were
Stuck with the reality of what we are
Tempted by the promise of a future
Afraid of possibility
I don’t know how our story ends, but this – this is where it started.

“You are the perfect verse over a tight beat.” – Brown Sugar

My black-hearted beauties!!! Thank you so much for sharing the covers of GRIP, and its prequel FLOW! To talk about what was behind the cover, I really have to talk at least a little about what is behind the story itself. The quote above from one of my favorite movies, BROWN SUGAR, rang in my head a lot as I was writing. GRIP is a love story about two people from completely different walks of life, from completely different circumstances, who meet each other and feel like they’ve known one another forever. They just click. It’s not insta-love. It’s anything BUT. FLOW, the prequel, actually takes place 8 years before GRIP. At that point, Grip is just starting in music and Bristol is a sophomore at Columbia. They connect around conversation and opinions and music and a lot of the things that typically come up when you first meet someone. And also around a lot of things that typically don’t. It’s not the things they have in common that fascinate them. It’s the ways they’re different. An innate curiosity drives both Marlon James (Grip) and Bristol Gray, and I think that is what makes them work. They don’t allow their differences to keep them apart, but leverage those differences to understand each other.

Hip hop is like a secondary character in this book. If you don’t like hip hop, you’ll still “get” this book; I hope still love it because it’s ultimately a deeply romantic story. But if you DO love hip hop, you’ll enjoy hearing names like Kendrick Lamar, Tupac, Biggie, Jay Z. Grip is a hip hop artist, and later on Bristol is his manager. But he, like Tupac, attended a School of the Arts. And like Tupac, started as a poet, a writer. He’s very broad-minded. Very well read, articulate, but authentic. Still really grounded in the community where he grew up, even as his star rises. He, like Kendrick Lamar, grew up in Compton, and has to reconcile the sometimes disparate experiences of that setting and the very cultured context of his arts education. He’s been grinding for years – writing and producing for other artists, putting out underground mix tapes, featuring on artists’ tracks – and now it’s HIS turn. He’s about to drop his first solo studio album. All of that goes into the concept behind the cover.

Grip is hot. So I did want some “body” shot, but the story is very layered with a complex plot and a lot of “real life” current issues raised. So I wanted to elevate a little above “just” abs. Nothing wrong with abs! LOL! But with hip hop being such an influence I also wanted to integrate the cityscape; an urban/big city tone. And diverse characters are important in my work. Every book I’ve ever written features a cast of multi-ethnic characters. I wanted this visual to be…anything when you look at him. Is he Black, his he Hispanic, white? Diversity and embracing/understanding our differences actually is one of the main themes of the book, and their relationship – how they are so different, but manage to listen to, respect and ultimately love one another – becomes a metaphor for one of the book’s broader themes. So I wanted the aesthetic to be almost race-neutral.

The FLOW cover has a bit of a younger vibe than GRIP because they are younger in the prequel. They’re college-age In FLOW, so they don’t have the same responsibilities yet, and the beach and the Ferris wheel communicate some of that. GRIP takes place when they’re about to turn 30, and their lives have become really complex, especially with Grip’s celebrity, so it has a more mature context.

I hope you enjoy BOTH books! FLOW will be FREE everywhere on Feb 25!!! And GRIP goes straight to KU on March 2!

About Kennedy Ryan

Kennedy Ryan grew up in North Carolina, but loves living in Atlanta with her husband (tall – check, dark – check – handsome – check), and her handful of a son. Though she knew, like writers often do, that she was supposed to tell stories, the road to fulfillment has been paved with “some of everything” jobs that kept her family eating and living indoors. With her degree in Journalism from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill (Go Tar Heels!), she has focused on writing for non-profit organizations and even doing some non-fiction ghost writing. Only in the last few years did she start telling stories again.

In addition to being a devoted wife and mom, she’s also passionate about serving families living with Autism. Her son was diagnosed with Autism at the age of two, and she has made it her mission to help as many families as possible find the resources and services they need.

I am just as passionate about the REAL LIFE stories I tell as I am about the worlds I build in fiction. Some of these use my given TINA DULA and some are written under my pseudonym KENNEDY RYAN.

Behind the Cover Story: Rocked Up by Karina Halle & Scott Mackenzie

Also by this author: Dust to Dust

Behind the Cover Story is a cover reveal with an exclusive guest post from the author about said cover. Maybe, it’s an explanation of how they came up with the concept. Maybe, it’s how they found their model. Maybe, it’s more than that.

Rocked Up is a STANDALONE rockstar romantic comedy and the fun and sexy brainchild of New York Times bestselling author Karina Halle and her husband Scott Mackenzie.

I have been watching him since I was a child.

He didn’t notice me back then and it didn’t matter. Brad Snyder, guitarist and singer for one of the world’s greatest bands, was my entire life.

My father, the CEO of Ramsey Records, takes credit for all of Brad’s success, trying to control him in the same way he’s controlled me.

But I finally get an opportunity to prove myself.

To be wild.

To be free.

Today I’m auditioning to be the replacement bass player for Brad’s band. If I get the job, I’ll go on tour and work with Brad every day, in very close proximity.

There’s only one rule: he’s not allowed to touch the boss’s daughter.

Remember when I said that Brad never used to notice little ol’ me?

Well, Brad’s noticing me now.

In a way that’s going to get us both in trouble.

My name is Lael Ramsey and we all know how this will turn out.

Cover designer extraordinaire Hang Le and I have been working together for a long time. I think the first work she did for me were logos for The Artists Trilogy back in 2013! I’m talking old school.

This cover wasn’t that different from any of the others. It usually involves me contacting Hang with my next book, telling her my feelings about the cover and what the book is about and then she runs with it. She always reads my mind and if she doesn’t, it’s a much better version of what I envisioned.

For Rocked Up she surprised me. I mean, how hot is this guy on the cover? Where did she find this perfect sexy specimen? He was the perfect Brad Synder (the rockstar hero in the book)…not only that but it’s also classy and fun at the same time. Nothing wrong with a shirtless guy, but since I wrote this book with my husband, we wanted a cover he could be proud of. And there’s the fact that most of my covers in the past don’t have a man on it, so I wanted some kind of happy medium. I think this cover both showcases a sexy guy while still retaining a lot of mystery.

And of course there’s Hang’s fun touch with the pregnancy test logo! Yes, the book does contain the trope of an accidental pregnancy so it ties it all in and lets the reader know they are in for a read!

A tatted-up bad girl on the run falls for a former Navy fighter pilot in Beneath This Mask. Party girl Elle Snyder won’t let anything stop her from scoring pawn shop owner Lord Robichaux in Beneath These Chains. But nothing will ever be the same when they look beneath…

About Beneath This Mask
Former Navy fighter pilot. Son of a congressman. Successful businessman in my own right. With a résumé like mine, women have never been a challenge.
Until I met her.
This sexy, tatted-up bad girl wasn’t part of my plans, but that punch to my gut every time I see her tells me I have to know more.
She’s a mystery. An enigma. A challenge.
I’m going to figure her out—and then I’m going to make her mine.
We’ll find out what she’s hiding . . . beneath this mask.

About Beneath This Ink
I’ve always known she was too good for me, but that never stopped me from wanting her.
And then I finally had her for one night.
A night I don’t remember.
I figured I’d blown my shot.
But now she’s walked back into my life, and this time, I have the upper hand. I want my second chance.
Will she be able to see the man beneath this ink?

About Beneath These Chains
I was raised on the streets, so I know things are rarely as simple as they appear—especially this rich girl showing up at my pawnshop demanding a job.
She’s the most tempting thing I’ve ever seen, and I’ll be damned if I can make her leave.
Shit just got complicated … but when it comes to her, I want complicated.
We’re both fighting our own demons, and our only chance at a future is to let go of the past.
But will we be strong enough to break free from beneath these chains?

The story behind the cover of Beneath Series Volume One starts a lot longer ago than June when I took the picture. To truly appreciate how this cover came to be, we have to rewind back to August of 2015 when I met Jacob Wilson, the cover model, at a book signing in Hawaii. Actually, even longer ago than that, if I’m going to tell the complete story. If you’re not sure where I’m going with this, I’ll cut to the chase—this isn’t just the story behind a cover, it’s the story of how a romance author found love when she least expected it.

Not what you were expecting, right?

If you’ve spent much time on Facebook or Instagram or Pinterest, you might recognize Jacob Wilson’s distinctive tattoos. Back in March of 2015, I didn’t recognize them when I ran across a headless picture of him on Pinterest. I was in the process of writing Beneath These Chains, and he was an amazing inspiration for Lord Robichaux, a pawn shop-owning tattooed alpha. So I pinned the photo to my inspiration board and shared it in my Facebook reader group. Luckily for me, one of the members knew exactly who he was and shared his name. At the time, he was just a pinned picture and character inspiration. I didn’t even Facebook stalk him. No, really. I’m being totally honest.

It wasn’t until August of 2015 when I arrived in Hawaii with my mom in tow for the Wicked Mafia signing that the story takes an interesting turn. I remember seeing a guy as I walked into the ballroom and wondering—is that the same one I pinned and my group proceeded to post pictures of on occasion? I’d been wrapped up in working over a hundred hours a week between my full-time job as a corporate lawyer and finishing four more books that I didn’t have a lot of time to do much more perusing on Pinterest.

Fast forward to a publicist picking up her preorder at the signing. I remember asking her if it was the same guy, explaining that the girls in my reader group were fans, and she told me it was. I said something along the lines of, I should get a picture with him for my group, and her telling me I should come over to their table.

I immediately said no, I don’t do that kind of thing, but apparently she had a better idea.

Toward the end of the signing she returned with him to introduce us so I could get that picture, and I was mortified. Luckily, my mom came to the rescue and started talking like a normal human being and the ice was broken. Jake, my mom, and I talked until the signing wrapped up and we all left.

I figured that was the end of things, but my mom seemed to know better, as moms often do. After we got back to our room, and she kept saying how nice he was and she was totally right. By the end the year, I was ass over red stilettos in love with that very same guy, and luckily for me, he felt the same way.

When I asked him if he wanted to come with me on an amazing adventure, he agreed. In March of 2016, a year after I pinned his picture to my inspiration board for Beneath These Chains, we packed up our lives and moved to Belize to live on the beach.

When I realized I was going to need a cover photo for Beneath Series Volume One, Jake volunteered and taught me how to shoot it. I took the photo for the cover in our bedroom closet at our house in Belize because it was the only blank white wall in the house. Sarah Hansen from Okay Creations worked her magic and created a beautiful cover from my raw image.

It’s crazy to think, looking back, had the pieces not fallen together the way they did, Beneath Series Volume One might have a very different cover, and I might have a very different life right now. But apparently, because the world works in mysterious ways, I found a book-worthy happily ever after instead.

Volume One is on sale now for only $0.99, but only until Wednesday October 5th. Hurry and grab your copy today >HERE<!

There’s no way I’ll fall for Wyatt Hennington.

He can keep his Southern drawl, irresistible smile, and those pick up lines all to himself. It’s bad enough that I made the mistake of sleeping with him once. It will never happen again. I don’t want nor need some cowboy complicating my life.

But I don’t always get what I want.

Whether I like it or not, our lives are intertwined. Trying to keep him out of my heart is futile. He’ll find every loophole and embed himself there.

The problem is—I don’t know if he even loves me. And when the ground crumbles beneath us and our world shatters, I’ll finally know if he truly wants me or if we are only fooling ourselves . . .

Picking a cover image for me is a process. People think searching for hot guy images is fun, but it’s not. I spend hours on Google, Instagram, and stock images. By hour number three I’m ready to scream. I find images that I like but they’re not the right feel. It’s hard to find someone who fits the image that you’ve created in your head. Then you might find the “guy” but all his photos aren’t the right emotion or clothing . . . it is not as fun as one would think.

When I found the model for Say You’ll Stay, The image for him fell in my lap. My beta read, Katie, messaged me his photo and I knew. I just knew that he was Zach. I remember thinking . . . how the HELL am I going to find something close or better?

Then it came time to find Wyatt. And Wyatt Hennington is perfect. He’s dreamy, funny, cocky, smart-mouthed, and sweet as all hell. I had no clue how I would find him. A friend tagged me on Instagram and said . . . Wyatt?

That was it. My ovaries exploded and once again that gut feeling was strong. The only issue is that none of his photos had the photographer’s name listed.

It took me ten days to finally find his information. I was so lucky from that point forward. Because the model is also an actor, his PR team had to approve the sale of the photo. (Which they did THANK GOD). Then I had to pick one from the fifteen images of the hottest photos ever. I mean, how do you choose? I enlisted the help of my friends, Vi Keeland and Claire Contreras to help find one that was the best.

Then my cover designer, Sarah Hansen from Okay Creation did her magic. She sent me the cover and it was perfect. I seriously love all of my covers, but there’s something special about this one. I can’t place it, but it is truly everything I could want.

Don’t forget to pick-up a copy of Say You Want Me
on October 31!!

Behind the Cover Story ~ Reveal: The Silent Waters by Brittainy C. CherryThe Silent Waters by Brittainy C. Cherry
Series: Elements #3
September 23rd, 2016
Genres: Contemporary Romance

Moments.

Our lives are a collection of moments. Some utterly painful and full of yesterday's hurts. Some beautifully hopeful and full of tomorrow's promises.

I’ve had many moments in my lifetime, moments that changed me, challenged me. Moments that scared me and engulfed me. However, the biggest ones—the most heartbreaking and breathtaking ones—all included him.

I was eight years old when I lost my voice. A piece of me was stolen away, and the only person who could truly hear my silence was Brooks Griffin. He was the light during my dark days, the promise of tomorrow, until tragedy found him. Tragedy that eventually drowned him in a sea of memories.

This is the story of a boy and girl who loved each other, but didn’t love themselves. A story of life and death. Of love and broken promises.

Of moments.

Can we take a second and appreciate the beauty of this cover?!

If you have seen the previous two covers really you can’t expect anything less than this magnificent looking beauty.

So I (Tiffany) met Brittainy in Vegas recently and let me tell you… She literally became my favorite person!  Let’s just say she’s this poetic gangster and so full of positive energy, her smiles are contagious.  We have a first look at her cover and a little insight. Enjoy!

What was the thought process behind your cover or the inspiration for it?

Brittainy: For the cover of The Silent Waters I definitely wanted it to have the same feel as the first two books in the series, yet also somehow tie in the despair of the hero with the photo! When I stumbled on the cover model on Instagram I knew he was going to be on my cover! He just embodies everything that is Brooks.

I love that! Is there anything specific you want readers to know about this book? Also can this be read as a standalone?

Brittainy: I’d love readers to know that this is a story about two people and the moments that broke them, and the moments in life that healed them. It’s a story of moments. It can be read as a complete standalone!

See I told you, she’s like a modern Edgar Allan Poe, like I don’t think I have ever loved the word MOMENTS so much!

Once more lets totally admire this full wrap cover, because well it gorgeous!

Everyone make sure to add this beauty to you TBR! We can’t wait for it!
