From New York Times Bestselling Author, Penelope Ward, comes a new standalone novel.

Sharing a summer house with a hot-as-hell roommate should be a dream come true, right?

Not when it’s Justin…the only person I’d ever loved…who now hates me.

When my grandmother died and left me half of the house on Aquidneck Island, there was a catch: the other half would go to the boy she helped raise.

The same boy who turned into the teenager whose heart I broke years ago.

The same teenager who’s now a man with a hard body and a hardass personality to match.

I hadn’t seen him in years, and now we’re living together because neither one of us is willing to give up the house.

The worst part? He didn’t come alone.

I’d soon realize there’s a thin line between love and hate. I could see through that smug smile. Beneath it all…the boy is still there. So is our connection.

The problem is…now that I can’t have Justin, I’ve never wanted him more.

Author's note – RoomHate is a full-length standalone novel. Due to strong language and sexual content, this book is not intended for readers under the age of 18.

SPOILERS! We were very honest, perhaps harsh at times, and did not sensor ourselves. There are spoilers below. BEWARE!

Sidenote: This is way more of a rant than a review. We’d apologize for it not making a whole hell of a lot of sense, except we really just don’t give a shit.

What three words would you use to describe RoomHate?

Ali –
Immature. Ridiculous. WTF?
Leah – Cringeworthy. Awful. Needs Editing (pretend that’s one word).

What were your first thoughts on Justin?

Leah –
He was fine I guess. The whole eye patch thing was stupid as fuck. The stabbing. I hated their past memories with a vengeance. His level of asshole was pretty ridiculous too. When they see each other again. It was so over the top, it was eye roll worthy. Him in second half was way better. I actually *liked* him. Minus his tit milk fetish. OMG ALL THE CREEPY WATCHING. Hahahaha I forgot about that.
Or him having the knife in his work out shorts. *snort*
Fuck, that editing.
Or her not knowing she was knocked up until she was halfway done. For fuck’s sake.
Ali – Okay, I gotta admit…I kind of liked the first bit of flashback. The Patch nickname. It was cute.
Leah – God I’m feeling stabby remembering it.
Ali – Slow the fuck down, woman.
Leah – Didn’t I say I wanted to dnf like 5 times before 10%?  Sorry, I’m getting anxious. Hahaha!
Ali – I agree that he was entirely too aggressive with his level of hate at the beginning. It was over the top dickish.  And I don’t even know where to start with my disgusting feelings about the breast milk.
Leah – Way over the top. For a ‘friendship’ IN HIGHSCHOOL.
Omg. The boob juice. It was SO wrong.
Ali – Boob juice. Sick. LOL
Leah – And I’m an open person. Wanna talk tits and boob juice, that’s my damn job.
Ali  – Okay, so on to Amelia. Thoughts?
Leah – She was such a weak character. She would never be in my tribe, if you feel me.
Ali – Honestly. I don’t even really remember her. Seriously, I had to go look up her name. She left that little of an impression on me.
Leah – I couldn’t tell u the names LOL. I just remember her being a twit. And a creepy starer.
I think I liked the girlfriend and the baby more than the two main characters.
Ali – Fuck. YES! So much yes!
Leah – That’s SO sad.
I looked at reviews. All 5 star then a ton of 1 and 2 stars saying DID WE READ THE SAME BOOK?  I feel their confusion.
Ali – Yup. I don’t get it. At all. I know everyone likes different things. But this book was just so immature and ridiculous. The ONLY good feels I got were from Justin with the baby but that all happens pretty late in the game and in NO way makes this a five star read.
Leah – I loved him with the baby!!! That was the ONLY redeeming thing.  I wish he wouldn’t have said no kids ever though.  Too cliche. No kids, then falls in love with a baby that’s not his.
Ali – Agree.
So, overall…I think it’s pretty safe to say that neither of us enjoyed this book. Really, at all. It’s full of ridiculousness. My ratings pretty low. Like, a two on a good day and barely a one star when I’m PMSing all over the place.
Leah – LMAO.  I almost DNFd atleast 15 times. It was just….ridiculous. And she needs an editing overhaul.
Ali –Yep. It was really hard to get through. At least we had each other for moral support. As the rest of the reading world seems to have loved it.
Leah – I honest to god have no idea how. Sometimes I know I’m being a finicky bitch…but that book was just dreadful.
Ali – Sigh…guess we can’t love them all.
Leah – Fuck, ain’t that the truth?

  • M.A.

You lost me when you wrote “sensor” rather than censor #cringe #justbeinghonest #blackheart

    • Bahaha! We don’t edit ourselves either. Good thing that’s not a part of us making a living. But, hey…we must not have lost you too quickly. You did leave a comment. #justsaying #hatersgonnahate #ourheartsaretarblack
