Makeup Monday #2: Fifty Shades of Grey from Make Up Forever

Unless you’ve been living under a rock, then you know that the movie adaptation of E.L. James best-selling novel, Fifty Shades of Grey, will be hitting movie theaters around the world on Friday. Millions of women will be making their way to their local theaters to finally see the damaged but enigmatic Christian Grey come to life. So, it was only fitting that we dedicate this week’s Makeup Monday post to Fifty Shades of Grey.

When literature student Anastasia Steele goes to interview young entrepreneur Christian Grey, she encounters a man who is beautiful, brilliant, and intimidating. The unworldly, innocent Ana is startled to realize she wants this man and, despite his enigmatic reserve, finds she is desperate to get close to him. Unable to resist Ana’s quiet beauty, wit, and independent spirit, Grey admits he wants her, too—but on his own terms.

Shocked yet thrilled by Grey’s singular erotic tastes, Ana hesitates. For all the trappings of success—his multinational businesses, his vast wealth, his loving family—Grey is a man tormented by demons and consumed by the need to control. When the couple embarks on a daring, passionately physical affair, Ana discovers Christian Grey’s secrets and explores her own dark desires.

While Anastasia Steele doesn’t wear much makeup in Fifty Shades of Grey, book lovers and makeup junkies alike can try to lure their own Christian Grey with a glossy pouty lip or a seductive smokey eye. Back in December, Make up Forever launched four sexy, limited-edition sets in anticipation of the movie’s release on February 13.

There are two lip trios, a blush palette, and a lip and eye set that fans of the series can pick-up to add to their makeup collection. The lip and eye set comes with a special keepsake box that can be used to hide your favorite toys…makeup related or not 😉  [View Full Collection Here]
I decided to pick-up one of the lip trios and blush set since I’m a bit of a hoarder for all kinds of lip and blush products. The Tease Me lip trio in Passionate comes with three full-sized lip products which includes:

         – Aqua Lip lip pencil in Matte Raspberry 10C
         – Aqua Rouge liquid lipstick in Limited Edition Shade #50 + a clear gloss
         – Lab Shine lip gloss in D4 Shimmering Grenadine

The lip pencil acts as a great base for the lipstick or can be worn on its own. The Aqua Rouge liquid lipstick dries to a matte finish and lasts FOREVER on the lips. It can be a bit drying if worn alone, so I always make sure I moisturize before applying the lipstick or dab a bit of the clear lipgloss that comes with it. The Lab Shine lipgloss is adds a very nice hint of color to your lips, and if you like shiny lipgloss with a bit of glitter, then this product is for you. I’m not a huge fan of glittery lipgloss but this one is really comfortable to wear and the glitter doesn’t feel gritty.
With the Desire Me Blush Trio, you can create your own look of desire with three shades of cheek color. This cheeky set contains:

          – Artist Shadow blush in I-526, I-808, S-748

          – Travel Precision blush brush in 150
          – Exclusive keepsake pouch

The highlight and pink cheek color are actually full-sized Make Up Forever Artist Shadows, which means you can use them on your cheeks or as eyeshadows. While the coral blush color looks a bit intimidating, when applied with a soft hand it actually gives your cheeks a nice flush of color, like you’ve been spending a bit of time in the Red Room of Pain *wink, wink*  I actually like mixing the pink and coral color to get a nice pinky/peach color. The brush included in the set is very good quality for a travel size but it just wasn’t not big enough of a blush brush. It works great with the highlighter though.
My only “complaint” about the whole collection is that I wish the actual makeup items were packaged with the Fifty Shades of Grey packaging (like how MAC Cosmetics does their special edition collections). Aside from the special velvet bag or the keepsake box that comes with the lip and eye set, the items look like regular Make Up Forever makeup. Other than that, these all great quality makeup like with the rest of the Make Up Forever range. These are limited-edition items, so would like to add these items to your makeup collection, make sure you pick them up now before they are gone forever.
