Casey Coffield has a growing list of personal flaws he keeps locked away in his head:
He’s never on time.
His list of IOUs to his best friend is endless.
Money is always short.
Goals are never in reach.

Oh, and he’s decided to add college drop-out to that list, too. He doesn’t really think that last one’s such a bad thing, but his family insists it is, so it stays on the list.

On paper, he’s a zero. But in person, when he’s mixing tracks for a sea of bodies at the hottest clubs and parties, he’s downright irresistible. Just-right stubble on his chin, body of a boxer and a smirk that stimulates all the right nerves—women have never been a problem. They flock to his swagger and fall for his charm…fast.

All except for this one.

Purple hair, gray eyes, a raspy voice and sass, Murphy Sullivan is a little bit country and a little bit rock-n-roll. And her and Casey? They have history. He can’t remember it, but she wrote a song about him—and it’s not exactly a love song. But it is good. Damn good. And uncovering her inspiration just might be the key to solving a few of his shortcomings—not to mention open doors to his own big break in the music industry.

But sometimes dreams get messy when they collide. Sometimes life changes patterns. A past paints the wrong picture and futures get cloudy. The only question that remains is who will you choose when the dust settles—you? Or the girl of your dreams?

I’ve stated before that Ginger Scott is one of the most underrated authors I read.  I’ll add to that now by stating, she is the queen of perfect little moments. Scott has a way of slipping in these touches or breaths or glances and turning them into such profound moments. I absolutely adore them!

For example, this is Murphy and Casey just hanging out and sharing a look. Just a look.

Gray finds me fast and hold me hostage. I submit with nothing but the truth.

Or here, same scene just a little bit farther along…

Lane’s voice echoes from a few doors down, breaking up what might have been my favorite full minute of breathing ever. It was definitely my most honest minute ever. And I didn’t have to say a word.

Her books always have these great and perfect little moments placed at just the right times.

Did I just fangirl pretty hard right there? I did, didn’t I? *shrugs*

Anywho…on to the story of In Your Dreams.

Casey Coffield is kind of a mess. An adorable and charming mess, but a mess none the less.  He’s aware and keeps good mental notes on all his flaws that really need attention.  But he keeps his focus on the ones that may impede him from his dreams in the music business. The rest of those flaws can be fixed later.  Until he happens across a YouTube video of a girl singing a song titled, In Your Dreams, Casey Coffield.  A song he loves, a song he wants to put his spin on, a song he doesn’t really understand.

Murphy remembers Casey very well, even if he can’t remember her.  She’s very aware of the type of person Casey is. Or, at least, was. And she’s not about to fall for his false charms.  Until they really are no longer false and the connection they both have to music becomes more.

I’ve had sex. I’ve had boyfriends. What I’ve never been is almost kissed. I think maybe I like the almost kiss even better. Or maybe I hate the almost kiss.

It’s a slow burn romance. They are strangers who work with each other before they are friends who flirt, who eventually become lovers. Oh man, when they do…HOT!  But again, it’s all the little moments that lead up to their love and all the ones that follow after they become lovers that make In Your Dreams the book it is.  The interactions between these two were sweet and humorous and absolutely delightful.  They bond over a Biore pore cleansing strip. I mean, really, it sounds odd but it’s so fantastic.

Take two independently strong characters and throw them into all the situations that make them insecure, throw the scariest parts of life at them, and then watch them learn to lean on someone they never would have expected. And love it but know it’s not completely sound and solid. That’s what this book is.

I loved every bit of their story and my only complaint would be that I would have liked a little more at the end.  I needed more time with them, I didn’t want it to be over.

In Your Dreams is technically the fourth book in the Falling series but you can absolutely read it as a stand alone.
