Ever since she was a little girl, thirty-year-old Rose dreamed of the day Harley would carry her across the threshold on their honeymoon. So what if this isn’t her actual wedding day, and that she’s only here because Harley was left at the altar just a few hours earlier?

Trading San Francisco for paradise and swapping her bridesmaid’s bouquet for a Blue Hawaii, Rose hopes she can finally escape the friend zone.

Once upon a time they had been more than friends, but life got in the way. She’s spent every day since wishing Harley would get a clue.

She’s always been his best friend.

He’s always been hers.

She’s in love with him.

He’s … not in love with her.

He’s … marrying someone else.

He’s … hiding something.

He’s … well—it’s complicated.

Ali and Tiffany both read Harley & Rose, and both had similar feelings. While Tiffany LOVES to become an ugly crying mess while reading books, Ali does not. At all. But, that is exactly what happened. Following are some of our thoughts, we want to hear yours though too, so hit us up in the comments below or on Facebook.

Q: First things first – let’s talk about the cover – thoughts?

Ali: THE COVER IS A LIE!

Tiffany: Its a beautiful LIE! A pink wrapped fucking LIE!

Q: If you had to pick three words that describe Harley & Rose, what would they be:

Tiffany: Three… Really, oh gosh that’s hard.  Beautiful, sorrow, and UNCONDITIONAL. But trust me there are way more than three words I could use to describe them.

Ali: Beautiful. Tragic. Epic.

Q: What were your first impressions of Rose?

Tiffany: Sometimes I thought she was a bit dramatic and then there were times I wish she were more dramatic.  For the most part though I LOVED her and that doesn’t happen often but she was my hero, she loved crappy TV so basically she’s a WINNER!

Ali: SHUT UP! You loved a book girl? 😉  I loved how quirky she was.  I also really loved that she put her heart on the line a couple of times in regards to Harley. So often the girl never speaks up and just gets her heart get broken over and over. While that happened, at least she was able to stand up for herself at times too. I also loved that she was so true to her heart, she knew who it belonged to, no matter what.

Tiffany: I do have the capacity to like heroines too… Most of the time I just don’t! Lol. But yes spot on, she was so true to her heart and it was her nature, most of the time it would annoy me but not in Rose, I think because she was so genuine.

Q: What were your first impressions of Harley?

Ali: I’ll readily admit that I had many, many moments of quite nearly hating Harley. He is so loving and caring yet so fucking stupid at the same time. It was aggravating.

Tiffany: I have to agree with you! SO many times I was so frustrated with him but then I would get all giddy over him.  But he won me over, tubes and all.  He was perfect but an idiot and I think sometimes that’s just a man gene so it wasn’t entirely his fault.

Ali: I think his intentions were never bad, just misguided…maybe that’s the right word. In the end, I forgave him for everything and that’s really what matters.

Q: Chapter 4, location 343, on a scale of 1 to 5 how much did you appreciate Rose’s love for the perfect man nipples?

Ali: OMG, perfect! I, too, have a thing about nipples. They can be soooo wrong or they can be perfect. There is not much middle ground for me. I loved that I shared that with Rose!

Tiffany: NIPS are a big deal for all of us, so yes Rose thank you for being so critical and not accepting anything less than the best man nipples! You have standards girl and I admire that.

Q: Did Harley & Rose take you were you thought it would?

Tiffany: AB-SO-FUCKING-LUTELY! It’s been a year I’ve been waiting for this book, literally FB just reminded me and showed me the shared post from the blog of the cover reveal.  But really though, this was way more than I expected and I think their adventure together was perfect, real, raw, and so honest.  Had it went other way I don’t feel that I could of loved it as much, oh gosh the magnitude of this story will FOREVER BE ONE OF MY NEW ALL TIME FAVORITES!

Ali: FUCK NO! This book did not take me where I thought it would. HARD FUCKING LIMIT, JENNER! But, that’s okay because it pushed my boundaries and was a really beautiful experience. I think I learned something about love and life and you can’t expect more than that from a book. Ever.

Tiffany: I don’t think Carmen will ever hear the end of this one, I still can’t believe you read it and I still think you’re a liar by omission, but I love you even more for it because you knew I would love this book and I so totally did!

Q: How awesome were the Peter & Wendy references? Did it practically make you shit out flowers from the cuteness?

Ali: Too. Damn. Adorable. It fit perfectly with how they grew up together.

Tiffany: YES! UGH, him climbing through her window, I loved it! Have I mentioned yet that this has become one of my top reads EVER?! Like ever, like I want to live in this book!

Q: How satisfied (or unsatisfied) were you at the end of the book?

Ali:  Such a fucking hard question.  If I focus on just the end and not some major factors leading up to the end…I’m absolutely satisfied. There was a moment where it could have gone a different direction and I’m so thankful it didn’t. I’m speaking of the epilogue here. I think it was exactly as it needed to be.

Tiffany: I so agree with Ali again about her answer, there was total content at the end and it had to be that way, there was no other way.  I can’t even bare to think of it going any other way.

Q: On a scale of 1 to 10 (1 being a gentle pat on the head and 10 being a pencil to the eye), how upset were you with Carmen while reading Harley & Rose?

Tiffany: A pencil to the damn eye and then for good measures a second one because the first one didn’t cause enough damage!  I was so upset like a beautiful, torturing mess upset.  But I don’t know if I was more upset with the cover LYING to us silently or the events inside the book.  Either way if someone is going to make me cry and ruin good $5.99 lashes I’m glad it was Carmen.

Ali: Bahaha! Your poor eyelashes. But, I am right there with you. There is no end to the horrible names I called Carmen while reading this book. And she deserves all of them and some more for pulverizing what little heart I had left.

Tiffany: That’s a huge feat! You don’t cry, EVER except for that one time in Seattle at breakfast at 8:52am when you cried and we all saw it.  But I obviously hardly remember the details of that! Hahah!

Q: Not so much a question really, but what was your favorite quote from the book and why? (Kind of a question after all)

Ali: Shit…too hard! Okay, so I’m not going to give the whole quote. For reasons. But it’s the one that starts with “Tell him that I loved you first…” <— HEARTBREAK CITY!

Tiffany: And I am now CRYING AGAIN! We need ID’s made with our place of residence showing Heartbreak City, if Harley & Rose are there I’d gladly live there. Okay but favorite quote, I had a million but this one was one of my faves, seriously I have too many but this one was one that is just so TRUE! “All of what I told him was true- some people are just meant to break your heart, as if it were their sole mission here on earth to teach you not to fall in love with the wrong person.  Some people will break your heart over and over again, because some of us never learn.” – Rose

Ali: Such a perfect and true quote.

Harley & Rose releases on October 18, 2016, but you can pre-order it now for only $0.99. Link is at the top of the post.

Sunday-Brunch-Logo-Square1

Sunday Brunch is where we ask an author a series of ridiculous questions that have little or nothing to do with books or reading, all in an attempt for you to get to know the person behind the books and maybe, just maybe…pick up one of their titles. Hope you enjoy!

BHR: If you could be any animal in the world, what animal would you be and why? name be?

Carmen: I’d be an otter. THEY HOLD HANDS IN THE WATER, PEOPLE!!! I recently had a religious experience watching the otters at Taronga Zoo in Sydney and I think I have the family convinced that we should move to the US in order to have a whole yard full of them.

BHR: We come to your house for dinner, what are we eating?

Carmen: Whatever you can rustle up. I think there’s some skittles in the cupboard. No, I actually make a mean lasagna. I’m pretty alright with baked goods too, but I rarely have time for baking any more.

BHR: If there was a movie produced about your life, who would play you and why?

Carmen: Probably Rebel Wilson. I’m not sure why anyone is making a movie about my life though. Make Sugartown a movie instead, so we can cast Stephen James. 😉

BHR: Who would you let punch you directly in the face?

Carmen: Um … no one. I’m a big softly and will likely cry. Actually, I’d probably let Ali punch me in the face as payback for breaking her heart with Harley & Rose, but only this one time.

BHR: You’re a new addition to the crayon box. What color would you be and why?

Carmen: HOT Mother-freaking-pink! 😉

BHR: Where would you go in a time machine?

Carmen: I’d love to say the 1950’s because I adore the clothes, cars, makeup, hairstyles, houses and movie stars from that era, but I’d be that one housewife who, instead of waiting by the door for my husband with a martini when he got home from a long day at work, would likely drink it myself and tell him to fix his own dinner. So I’m going back to ancient Egypt as Cleopatra where I can sit on a gilded throne and order people around.

BHR: What’s your favorite ’90s jam?

Carmen: No! Too hard! Too hard! Don’t Speak by No Doubt.

BHR: Who do you just hate the most? 😉

Carmen: Nicolas Cage, and those Housewives of fill in the city here… on TV that are famous because they married some random dude with money. And the Kardashians. They can all go away now. 😉

BHR: How old were you when you realised Santa Claus and the Easter Bunny probably never actually knew one another in real life?

Carmen: WTF?! They don’t? I feel like I’ve been lied to my whole life! Thanks Blackheart, b*tches, thanks a lot. 😛

BHR: What is your favorite quote?

Carmen: “We are all broken, that’s how the light gets in.” This is often credited to Ernest Hemingway but it is in fact one of those weird internet mash-up quotes that people kind of ran together and misquoted. Apparently there’s a similar line said by Hemingway and a different line sung by Leonard Cohen in the song “Anthem” that equates to the same thing. It’s still my favorite line though, regardless of who said it.

BHR: If you were an ice cream flavor, what would you be?

Carmen: One of those crazy rainbow flavors with popping candy and mixed nuts because you never know what you’re going to get.

Killer. Criminal. Sociopath.

All of these words have been used to describe me, and for the longest time I believed that that’s all I was.

I’m the man you call in to clean up your mess, assuming your mess is a guy who needs a bullet to the head. I’m the man the MC calls when they want their dirty work done.

I’m the man who doesn’t feel.

Until now.

Until her.

Now my mess is a woman who won’t save herself. I’ll fight like hell to save her, but at what price to the club? And at what cost to me?

Warning: TANK contains graphic violence, profanity, drug use, and explicit sexual situations that may be a trigger and cause some readers emotional discomfort. Intended for an 18+ audience only. Not intended for pussies.

I almost feel like this book should be titled Ivy, not Tank.  Tank is a huge part of it, of course he is, but it’s Ivy’s story of struggle and survival that took the center stage for me.

Tank isn’t the best guy. He’s done awful things. He’s the MC’s assassin, he’s witnessed horrific things happen to people who didn’t deserve them, he’s lived a life of debauchery, he’s watched as Ivy, determinately self destructs.

But he’s done with most of that now. Minus the assassin stuff, anyway.  More specifically, he’s done letting Ivy hurt herself anymore and he sure as hell is done letting her hurt him by proxy.  Though it will take all his brute strength and the caring teddy bear (it is a super huge fucking teddy bear too, let me tell you)  hiding inside to keep the woman he wants from getting what she thinks she deserves.

I want her submission. I want her heart. I want her to look at me and not wish I were someone else.

Ivy’s had a hard life. The hardest. Her past is dark and full of all the terrible horrors you never wish on a child. Becoming a whore for the MC is almost like a dream come true to her. Which, yeah…that’s fucked up, but it’s better than what she had before and the MC offers a protection she can’t gain in any other way.

Her story is a hard one to read. Start to finish. At the beginning (and if you’ve read Kick), she isn’t the easiest girl to like but as you learn more about her, she’s impossible to hate.

Ivy is tragedy, she’s pain, she’s abuse, she’s addiction, she’s sorrow.

Tank, the club assassin, is her salvation – or maybe, he’s the tool for her to find her own.

There was a point in this story that I had to set my kindle down and just absorb. I actually messaged Jenner…I may have even called her a naughty name. I can’t be blamed. I felt flayed. I felt defeated.

But that’s the point. She means for you to feel it a certain way and I did. Luckily, for the sake of our friendship, she put me back together at the end. I truly believe Jenner’s strength in writing comes out when she’s writing dark and heavy. Weather it’s dealing with abuse or rape or hell, zombies…she does it with a certain amount of bravery and I always FEEL it.

Cooper Ryan is living the dream. Between the parties with rock royalty, booze, groupies and performing to crowds of thousands with his band Taint, life seems pretty sweet. There’s just one thing missing: the feisty little red-head that took his baby and ran off with his heart. Throwing himself into music is the only thing keeping him sane.

Until a run-in with a nonplussed, package-wielding PA throws everything off balance.

Ali Jones is having a craptastic life. Her grandmother died, leaving her homeless, penniless, and alone, and her boyfriend left her for a tramp who takes her clothes off for money. That’s why when she lands her dream job at a record company it seems like it’s too good to be true.

Because it is.

Slapped with an ultimatum, Ali must decide if facing the horror of the unemployment line is a fate worse than going on the road with four rowdy rockers hell-bent on making her life misery.

He’s adored by millions.
She’s not even loved by her cat.

Can they ignore their hatred long enough to survive the tour from hell? Or will their chemistry force everything to come crashing down around them?

Cooper Fucking Ryan. Sexy. Bossy. Emotionally unavailable. He’s still a little shaken from losing his heart and his child to another man.  He’s distracting himself with his career and a world tour until another feisty redhead falls in his lap.

Ali Jones has lost everything over the past year. She has no family, no love and is barely holding down the job she hopes will lead to the career she desperately wants.  Playing coffee girl to Cooper’s band, is not on her to do list. But when it’s that or lose her job, she goes…albeit kicking and screaming.

Ali is not the type of girl Taint is used to. She doesn’t fall at the feet of all the boys. She’s clumsy, bad mannered, foul mouthed, goofy, geeky and hates being told what to do.

Which is exactly what these spoiled rock stars need. Ali may have some animosity due to Cooper’s demanding ways, but she can’t deny the feelings she has for him. Underneath his cockiness is a sensitive guy. A caring guy, still harboring feelings for a different redhead.

Cooper isn’t the only rockstar falling for Ali’s smart ass and snarky mouth, though.

Levi also has his eyes on her.  And one night of too much drinking and hurt feelings starts a sexy lust triangle.

Ali, after spending so much time lonely, rolls with the punches. Until she becomes the punching bag and a band once built on family and friendship is cracking from rivalry, jealousy and mistrust. Hard decisions have to be made and hearts will undoubtedly be broken.

Taint is a little more lighthearted and fun then the last couple of Jenner’s novels.  It’s not all fun and games, this is still a romance between two people so afraid to love again they’ll fall into sexual chemistry with abandon to keep it from happening again. You feel for Cooper’s confusing emotions, you fall in love with Levi’s way of hiding behind a huge labido. You hope for them all to find some sort of happiness.

But this is really Cooper’s story and it’s one I was very glad to read.

Jenner has created a great cast of characters with the Taint boys and the take-no-punches girls who love them.  I’m excited to see where the series goes and how these unique guys end up finding love.

In the effort of being transparent, this book was dedicated to me. Carmen is a good friend and I adore her and what she gave to me in Revelry.  I’m telling you I loved it but maybe I’m biased. However, if you’re a fan of Jenner’s, I think you’ll love this start to what promises to be a fun series.
