About Tillie Cole

After years of teaching high school Social Studies and following her Professional Rugby Player husband around Europe, they have settled in Calgary, Alberta where Tillie spends most of her days (and many a late night) lost in a writing euphoria or in her dream of pursuing a dazzling career as a barrel-racing, tasselled-chap, Stetson-wearing cowgirl… Ye-haw!
Tillie Cole is a Northern girl through and through. She originates from a place called Teesside on that little but awesomely sunny (okay I exaggerate) Isle called Great Britain. She was brought up surrounded by her mother — a farmer’s daughter, her crazy Scottish father, a savagely sarcastic sister and a multitude of rescue animals and horses.

Being a scary blend of Scottish and English, Tillie embraces both cultures; her English heritage through her love of HP sauce and freshly made Yorkshire Puddings, and her Scottish, which is mostly demonstrated by her frighteningly foul-mouthed episodes of pure rage and her much loved dirty jokes.

One shy lost soul.
One silent lonely heart.
One love to save them both.

Life has never been easy for twenty-year-old Levi Carillo. The youngest of the Carillo boys, Levi is nothing like his older brothers. He isn’t dark in looks or intimidating to everyone he meets. In fact, he’s quite the opposite. Haunted by a crippling shyness and the tragic events of his past, Levi spends his days with his head buried in his books, or training hard for his college football team. Too timid to talk to girls, Levi stays as far away as possible and completely on his own… until he saves the life of a troubled pretty blonde, a troubled pretty blonde that might just be the exception to his rule.

Elsie Hall is homeless. Or at least that’s all anyone ever sees. Everyday is a fight for survival on the cold streets of Seattle, everyday a struggle to find food and keep warm. Alone in life—a life that’s dangerous and cruel—her will to keep going is an ever-losing battle. In her world of silence, Elsie has given up hope that her life will contain anything but constant struggle and pain… until the beautiful boy she has severely wronged comes to her rescue at precisely the right time.

New Adult novel—contains sexual situations and mature topics. Suited for ages 18 and up.

Have you ever read a book and been so intertwined with the characters and their world that you no longer have a sense of what is real or fiction?!

Have you ever read a book and been captivated by the shear amount of emotions being evoked within your soul?!

Have you ever read a book and and had to put your life on pause because there’s no way you can attempt to move on just yet?!

If  you have read anything by Tillie Cole than you have felt all of the above… So here I am 2,220 pages and five books later to be technical and I am left with the most bitter sweet feeling, EVER! It’s no surprise that The Sweet Home series is my favorite of all time and each book has claimed apart of my BLACK HEART, hell, it  claimed it entirely chambers and all.

Seeing as Sweet Soul was never planned but happened because there was such a demand I already knew Levi had a HEA from the Epilogue of Sweet Hope, but that doesn’t mean he didn’t struggle through many trials leading up to his happily ever after.  We watched him grow from a boy to a young man and even though he was never a main focal point in the books prior his character was none the less very prominent. In Sweet Hope there was a devastatingly, heartbreaking scene between him and Axel (Elpi) that brought me to my knees and that was one of the first times where I felt like I really got to experience Levi Carillo for more than just a younger brother to Austin and Axel. This shy boy was so much more than what we merely saw on the surface.

Elsie, Elsie, Elsie… As mentioned we knew she existed but knew nothing of her so meeting this kind-hearted  young woman was a complete treat! She broke my soul in so many ways, this silent broken girl, had endured events that I could have never imagined coming into this book. I loved the REALness of the issues she had and how it made me reflect on my own life and be even more grateful than I am for things that are easily taken for granted.

…Cruelty, the victor, not hope…

Levi brought a world of sound to Elsie’s silent and lonely life while in return she gave a voice to a shy, shy boy. The connection these two harbored was apparent from the beginning, but it wasn’t the kind of instant-love where you roll your eyes and want to punch someone, it was perfectly timed and in tune. These two had matching souls and it shone as bright as the moon, but add in some not so nice souls and it is bound to cause demons to make themselves known. Bullying was a big subject in this novel, it painted a picture of just how how damaging someones’s cruel intentions can be. How lasting someones careless tongue can cause a lifetime of self loathing and uncertainty making you believe you are in a world you don’t belong.

But… what was one of the most beautiful parts of this story was experiencing Levi help to see Elsie past her battered past that plagued her future. He too had many of his own trials that affected him but out of pure love, instead of worrying about himself he chose to let his love help heal another. Now Elsie was not just magically cured in a day nor was Levi but they were one another’s life line, and they created such a breathtaking dependency.

She understood. With few words, and little explanation, I knew Elsie understood me.

I can say plenty more but basically if you haven’t read this series, than you should! Just in case you take my word for it I’ve listed the order of series here, and to read Sweet Soul it is highly recommended you at least read all the Carillo Brothers novels.

Sweet Home (Rome & Molly #1)

Sweet Rome (Sweet Home retell in Rome’s POV #2)

Sweet Fall (Austin & Lexi #3)

Sweet Hope (Elpidio & Ally #4)

Sweet Soul (Levi & Elsie #5)

Raised as a prototype for the Georgian Bratva's obedience drug, 221 fails to think, act, or live for himself; he's his master's perfectly-crafted killing puppet. Standing at six-foot-six, weighing two-hundred-and-fifty pounds, and unrivaled in to-the-death combat, 221 successfully secures business for the Georgian Mafiya Boss of NYC, who rules the dark world of the criminal underground. Until his enemies capture him.
Talia Tolstaia dreams to break from the heavy clutches of Bratva life. She dreams of another life--away from the stifling leash of her Russian Bratva Boss father and from the brutality of her work at The Dungeon, her criminal family's underground death-match enterprise. But when she stumbles upon her family's captive who is more monster than man, she starts to see the man underneath. A powerful, beautiful, damaged man whose heart calls to hers. But sacrifices must be made--blood for blood...life for life...souls for scarred souls...

INSTANTLY after finishing this book all I wanted to do was start it again, but that’s the effect of Tillie Cole, her words make you needy and ache for more until you are left helplessly full in a world this woman has created with characters you know better than yourself.

REAP is the second in a 4 book series and being this is book 2, the series is already half way done and I am mourning the end before it has even come. We were first introduced into this Russian family in book 1 titled RAZE and I along with the rest of the world did not know there would be more after the conclusion of Luka and Kisa’s soul matching love, but there was…

This is a forbidden love story a little different from the norm, considering Talia belongs to a Russian Bratva family and her love interest as she learns is none other than the enemy she’s been taught to hate her whole life. Okay so maybe not so different, but the love these two begin to foster is completely soul-shattering and in their case life altering. But how deep does that hate run and can one forget the damage thats been done, and can the other get past what still lies ahead to be learned?

“He wasn’t mine to have. He couldn’t be. It was a stupid naive obsession.”

One of the things that I absolutely loved about this book is that there are 3 POV’s… Talia, Zaal, and Raze all narrated and usually I am opposed to “too many” POV’s for the simple fact that it’s annoying and can be distracting, but it felt actually crucial in this book. I needed to experience Luka’s chapters almost if not more than I needed the others, his struggle to become the man he was expected to be played heavily into Talia and Zaal’s storyline and created a balance.

With all of that covered… I loved both Talia and Zaal’s characters, Tillie has this gift of crafting amazing characters in a nutshell nurturing heroines and need to be tamed heroes. But I can never say this enough her characters never waiver in their essence of who they are and we see the growth when need be. The connection was not immediate in this book but it was gradual and once it happened it was like a hammer to my heart, the space these two shared was completely beautiful and all-consuming. But the reality of their situation was also very sad and draining. Talia was looking for an escape only to be brought further into a life she was looking to hide from if only for a short while and Zaal literally had no sense of life or even basic knowledge of where he came from all he knew was that he had a master and he was to be obeyed.

“My stomach knotted so hard I thought I’d never breathe again, the crack in my soul so great I thought it would never heal.”

Lastly I want to address all that is ZAAL Kostava, this man has stolen all of me! He is the epitome of broken even though it is almost hard to believe when you take into account his physical form but oh my, my heart kept falling for him and then the final drop just shattered it.

He knew nothing more than the fate he served as a slave to a Georgian leader and the killer he was bred in to. He was experimented on since being only a mere child stripping him of any memories or human life he ever had. Watching Talia care for him the way she did knowing his capabilities and the threat he could be only made me love her more. Ugh I need this man to be REAL!

I would say throughout reading I had an inkling of the next book and the direction things were heading, so even though it was a little predictable it was completely shocking when a turn of events arised. All in all I loved this book and the journey it took me on, ZAAL Kostava, “You are for me?”

Labeled a ‘Cursed’ woman of Eve from birth, Maddie has endured nothing but pain and repression at the hands of The Order’s most abusive elder, Moses. Now living with her sister in The Hangmen’s secluded compound, finally, Maddie, is free. Free from the suffocating faith she no longer believes in. Free from endless years of physical and mental torment.

Just… free…

At age twenty-one, the timid and shy Maddie is content to live within the confines of her new home—safe from the outside world, safe from harm and, strangely, protected by the Hangmen’s most volatile member; the heavily pierced and tattooed, Flame.

Flame.

The man who ceaselessly watches over her with his midnight dark and searing eyes.
The man who protects her with a breath-taking intensity. And the man who stirs something deep within her numbed heart.

But when circumstances conspire for Flame to need HER help, Maddie bravely risks it all for the broken man who has captivated her fragile soul.

The Hangmen’s most infamous member, Flame, is ruled by one thing—anger. Plagued by haunting demons from his past, an all-consuming rage, and isolated by an abhorrent hatred of being touched, Flame's days are filled with suffocating darkness, pierced only by a single ray of light—Maddie. The shy, beautiful woman he cannot purge from his thoughts. The woman he has an overwhelming need to possess…

... the only person who has ever been able to touch him.

Flame’s mission in life is to protect Maddie, to keep her safe. Until a trigger from his troubled past sends him spiraling into madness, trapping him in the deepest recesses of his disturbed mind.

His Hangmen brothers fear that Flame is beyond saving.

His only hope of salvation: Maddie and her healing light.

Dark Contemporary Romance. Contains explicit sexual situations, violence, disturbingly sensitive and taboo subjects, offensive language, and very mature topics. Recommended for age 18 years and over.

When Tillie Cole writes I easily forget that I am reading the works of a single woman but feel like the characters themselves are telling me a story…

My collection of words will not be able to convey how truly complex this novel is, I just hope I can shed a tiny light on how brutally beautiful Flame and Maddie’s story happens to be. The thing about this book is that I was having such a hard time letting it go and moving on, to be honest I didn’t want to review it right away because I wanted to be selfish with this pair and allow them to live in my soul for as long as possible, but I think the entire world should be reading this series!

He was still the man who protected me. He was still the silent shadow that kept me safe. The man I had missed with the most incredible fervor.

These two have such a tortured past that serves as a daily reminder of just how broken their lives have become. Being as this is the third book in the series we learned of Maddie’s past in the previous two books and the endless hours of rape that she fell victim to. Which leaves her frigid and afraid of anything and everything but from the sanctuary of her window she seems to hang on to the only constant that comforts her… Flame. Now he has always been a mystery to us, all we knew was that he was psycho, no more and no more less but experiencing his past but me in a rage! The things this ruggedly beautiful man had to live through do more than break my heart in half. There were multiple times when reading that I could only endure maybe 5 minutes at a time but every single word that was given in his regards is more than necessary to uncover FLAME.

My heart fluttered when I admitted to myself that I liked the way he watched me.

Even though Flame is amazing beyond belief I loved Maddie just as much, if not more I have a major girl crush on her. She was so selfless and adapted to any situation and just wanted to care for Flame in any way she could as if that were her life mission. Her intensity and loyalty to him just makes you happy and filled with pride.

Lastly, there were a few surprises that occurred one which shall remain nameless, but I can tell you that I am anxiously awaiting for Deep Redemption and to finally see if redemption can be granted to the so called villain.
